News (reordered):

12/15Hey everyone. I have posted everybody's grades today and I am proud to say that all of you passed. What a surprise ... Anyways, I will not be teaching the sequel next semester, so I hope that all of you have a great time using Unix and success here at Cornell. Good luck.
10/21I have posted lecture 10. Everyone passed the quiz we took last Friday, and thus everyone will pass this class. I have also put a practice scripting assignment up in the Assignments section. It's optional, but recommended for those looking to continue to next semester's CS 2044.
10/18Okay everyone. I have posted the answers to the quiz from Friday. They are being graded right now, but I'm sure you all did fine. To those of you who are taking it this weekend, please get it to me by Sunday some time.
10/16I've added to the references section a quick reference to using screen, and a longer manual on regular expressions and other filters we will talk about.
10/13Okay people. I have decided that we are going to have a QUIZ because I want to have something concrete to base your grades on in this class. On Friday 10/17 we are going to have a QUIZ at the end of the class. If for some reason you can't be there, email me so we can figure something out.
10/6I made some changes to lecture 4 to make the commands appropriate for the server. I also put in a command which gives you an idea of how to pull out a history of the commands you've executed. I've also posted lecture 5. If you guys come across anything that isn't working for you, lemme know and I'll see if I messed up.
10/1I've put a few websites up for those of you who may be trying things beyond what we've talked about. If you find a useful website that isn't posted, lemme know about it. Also I have learned that if you have not yet, but want to, sign up for the class you need to fill out a petition with your department. If I need to sign something, lemme know so I can help. Email me now if you don't have an account on the Linux cluster, or if you account isn't working so I can figure out what to do.
9/29One lecture down, 10 to go. Everyone who has signed up for the class has accounts; directions about how to use those accounts are in the last 3 pages of lecture 1. I've posted lecture 2 also, and soon I'll start posting helpful websites for Linux users.
9/24Alright, got the first lecture up now. The syllabus is up too, and there are links to Putty and WinSCP in the References section. I'm still working on getting everyone accounts on the CSUGlab so bear with me.
9/8Finally, the website is up and running. I'm still working on getting an account in the CS department - once that happens I hopefully will be able to secure accounts for all you students. Cross your fingers.
