Most summer research opportunities are for US citizens/permanent residents
and junior/senior level students, but the second link gathers many
opportunities that are open to more people.

   - The official NSF REU list
   <https://www.nsf.gov/crssprgm/reu/list_result.jsp?unitid=5044>.
   - Bill Velez’s list
   <https://mathalliance.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Annotated-List-of-REU-2018-1.pdf>
of
   programs (including some open to those who don’t qualify for NSF-funded
   opportunities)
   - Study abroad opportunities (some for the summer) in Budapest (both the
   original <https://www.budapestsemesters.com/> and the newer Budapest
   Semesters in Mathematics Education <https://bsmeducation.com/>), Moscow
   <https://mathinmoscow.org/>, and a newer program in Guanajuato
