[ugrads] Four-Color Fest at UIUC

Dear Students and Colleagues,

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the proof of the famous four color
theorem, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is organizing a
festival of music, and talks by world renowned experts on history, proof,
and influence of the four color theorem from Thursday, November 2nd through
Saturday November 4th.

(As Urbana-Champaign is easily accessible by car (2 hour drive from IIT)
and by train (Amtrak), you might be interested in attending some of these

*Students,* if you have taken Math 100, 380, 454, or 553, you must have
heard of the four-color theorem. If not, then look up Wikipedia. And if you
want to learn more about topic of graph coloring, the courses on Graph
theory that we offer, Math 454 and 553, spend substantial time on this
topic. Importance of this topic can be understood as study of the
ubiquitous problem of  ``conflict-free allocation of resources''.
