There are lots of great summer opportunities like the one in the email
forwarded below.

You think about applying.  Deadlines are in early spring.  Most are for
students who have taken a couple 300 or 400 level courses, and most are
only for US citizens and permanent residents, but not all.

Esteemed colleague,

San Diego State University is pleased to invite applications to its Summer
2017 Mathematics Research Experiences for Undergraduates.  The program
dates this year will be June 26 -- August 18, subject to final NSF
approval.  We have one project in pure mathematics (number theory), and one
in applied mathematics (fluid dynamics).

Please announce to any interested and qualified undergraduates.  The
program will pay a stipend of $4000 and provide room and partial board for
participants.  The application deadline is March 3.  For a detailed program
