> Dear Professor Hickernell:
> As the end of the school year approaches, you may have students who are unsure of their post-graduation plans. I was hoping you would bring our master’s program in applied economics to these students’ attention. We attempt to keep our cohort sizes small, but we still have several openings for the Fall Semester of 2015.
> Our program is a good fit for students who are interested in enhancing their economics training with applied empirical skills. To accomplish this, our program focuses on working with large datasets using an array of computer programs and provides hands-on experience in data management and analysis. Students take three econometric classes, including instruction in traditional regression analysis, advanced cross sectional and panel data modeling, as well as a separate class focused on time series and forecasting techniques. Complementary training in data management programming in Stata and SAS is also provided during instruction in research methods.
> Graduates who complete this program learn a skill set that is currently in high demand, with job opportunities at all levels of business and in all geographic locations. Importantly, our program is very affordable and can be completed in one calendar year. More information is available on our website (http://www.uww.edu/cobe/msecon). If you have any questions, comments or concerns, I’d welcome the opportunity to talk with you about our program personally. In addition, please feel free to let any interested students know that they are also welcome to contact me directly.
