Hi Professor Fasshauer,

My name is Payton Zemke and I work to find current students at Illinois
Institute of Technology to join Teach For America after graduation. I was
looking at the campus website and saw you teach in the department of Math.

Teach For America is a national non-profit dedicated to eliminating
educational inequity by training recent college graduates to teach in
low-income communities. Within our schools, Math and Science are subjects
many students fall behind in. *1 in 10* kids graduating from low-income
high schools are considered *college ready* in science and only *1 in 4*
are considered *college ready* in math. This alarming gap based on income
is one of the reasons we want to recruit more science, technology,
engineering, and math (STEM) teachers.

I recently asked the head of Teach For America’s STEM Initiative, Dr.
Joseph Wilson, to talk about his experience as an electrical engineer, high
school science teacher, and bioengineering PhD graduate. *Would you
consider presenting this video about Teach For America’s STEM Initiative in
one or more of your classes?* *Click **here* <http://youtu.be/rNgyziukg5o>*
for the link to the video*.

Don’t hesitate to reach out for questions or concerns, and please let me
know the date you plan to present the video when you get the chance. Thank
you very much,

*(If you cannot present this in one of your classrooms, do you mind
forwarding the link for the video to your students or to other faculty in
the department?)*
