Subject: Reminder: MATLAB Seminars at Illinois Institute of Technology

Hi Gregory,

I'd like to remind you about our invite for you to join MathWorks for a pair
of free MATLAB seminars on Thursday October 21st.

Both sessions will be held at the Illinois Institute of Technology in
Hermann Hall, West Ballroom.

If you have not already done so, you can register for either of these
seminars at:  <http://www.mathworks.com/seminars/iit1010>
http://www.mathworks.com/seminars/iit1010

Our presenter will be Terri Xiao, MathWorks Application Engineer

Agendas:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Session #1:  Data Analysis and Visualization in MATLAB
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

9:00 a.m.  Registration and sign-in.  Walk-ins are welcome.

9:15 - 11:00 a.m. Data Analysis and Visualization in MATLAB

During this session we will introduce specific examples to demonstrate how
to acquire, analyze and visualize data through mathematical, statistical and
engineering functions that support common engineering operations. This
session is designed to provide an overview of the MATLAB technical computing
environment, including desktop tools for editing and debugging code,
publishing your work, programming and 3-D visualization, and creating
graphical user interfaces (GUI). We will incorporate a number of new
features from the latest version of MATLAB.

Highlights include:

*  Importing data into MATLAB

* Performing statistical analysis and curve fitting

* Automating analysis via automatic MATLAB code generation

* Building GUIs and generating reports

Attendees with beginner to expert MATLAB skills are welcome to attend.

Session #2: Modeling and Simulation with MathWorks Tools: Wind Turbine Demo

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1:00 p.m.  Registration and sign-in.  Walk-ins are welcome.
1:15 - 3:15 p.m.   Modeling and Simulation with MathWorks Tools: Wind
Turbine Demo
The ability to simulate physical systems (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic,
etc.) and control systems in a single environment is crucial to the
development process of complex systems. It enables engineers to incorporate
requirements into the development process, design at the system level, and
to predict and optimize overall system performance without relying only on
hardware prototypes. In this session we will apply this approach to a wind
turbine design that will produce more power at a lower cost to build and
operate.
Highlights include:
*  Introduction to Model-Based-Design of a wind turbine
*  Determine actuator requirements
*  Compare actuators performances
*  Design Control systems
*  Investigate reactive power of wind farm using modeling and simulation
Attendees with beginner to expert MATLAB skills are welcome to attend.
