Another summer possibility, particularly well-described. Look at it, but
also bear in mind that there's a lot more like this, with application due

Subject: 2008 Trinity REU Program
Dear Colleagues,
We are now accepting applications for the 2008 Trinity REU in Mathematics
Program (final approval for support for our 2008 Program from the National
Science Foundation is pending). In past years, you have recommended students
to us for our Program, and we hope that you can pass this e-mail on to your
students who might be interested in a research experience next summer.
Instructions for applicants and the necessary forms can be found on our web
page http://ramanujan.math.trinity.edu/tumath/REU/index.shtml .
Topics for 2008 are
- Algebra,
- Combinatorics, and
- Number Theory.
*Details for Summer 2008 *
- *Number of Participants:* 12
- *Dates:* This years program begins May 27th and ends July 25th.
- *Stipends and Allowances:* $3,500 stipend, free campus housing,
travel allowance of up to $300. Participants also have a $300 allowance to
travel to a local or national meeting during the 2088-2009 academic year to
present the results of their REU work.
- *Requirements:* Must (1) be a citizen or permanent resident of the
United States or its possessions, (2) be a full time undergraduate
mathematics major as of September 2008, and (3) devote full time to the
program and may not engage in other course work or employment during their
seven weeks on the Trinity campus.
- *Selection:* Applicants are selected based on mathematical
creativity, good work habits, and familiarity with the area in which they
wish to work.
- *Non US Students: *International students do not qualify for NSF
funding, but those interested in participating with their own support should
contact the Program Director (schapman at trinity.edu) about
possibilities.
- *Deadlines:* Applications are due February 29, 2008.
