  _____

You are cordially invited to GEM's GRAD Lab hosted by Northwestern
University.

GEM will be holding a Getting Ready for Advanced Degrees Lab (GRAD Lab) in
conjunction with the Northwestern University on Saturday, April 28th, 2007.
GEM started this new program that offers under-represented students exposure
to the benefits of research and technology careers in a highly interactive
one-day event called GRAD Lab. GRAD Lab was kicked off at GEM's National
Conference June 2006 with rave reviews, so we decided to take it on the road
to attract regional talent not reached at our National Convention.

As part of this event, we wish invite you along with 10 or more
under-represented minority students to attend one day event in Evanston, Ill
(30 minutes from downtown Chicago). Additionally, we will have a Graduate
Resource Fair for you to promote your institution to regional and highly
motivate under-represented minority students interested in graduate school.
More details will be forthcoming with lodging and parking, etc; however, we
would like to assess your willingness to participate. Please send your
confirmation to either attend or not by COB March 16th. Please send
confirmations to Marcus Huggans at <mailto:mhuggans at gemfellowship.org>
mhuggans at gemfellowship.org , Bruce Lindvall at
<mailto:b-lindvall at northwestern.edu> b-lindvall at northwestern.edu , and/or
Kevin Smith at <mailto:smithk at iit.edu> smithk at iit.edu. We will be the
primary contacts for the event.

GRAD Labs consist of 4 sessions: 1) Why Graduate School, 2) How to Apply, 3)
How to Fund Graduate School, and 4) Voices from the Field. These sessions
are one of the most effective ways we have to spread the word about graduate
school and fellowship funding opportunities, and we are counting on you to
assist us to make as big of an impact as possible. Your willingness to
support these prospective graduate students will be invaluable to their
success. Hopefully, we can facilitate the exposure of talented and deserving
students to new and exciting opportunities for their future!

I look forward to your response.
