Dear Students:

 

Because you are (to some extent) the heirs to the legacy of Karl Menger, I'd
like to extend a particularly enthusiastic invitation for you to join in the
events to celebrate him on Monday, April 9. Menger was one of the greatest
mathematicians of the 20th century, a great teacher, and one of the most
important figures to have spent time at IIT.  

 

Please see below for the day's schedule. If you can't come for the whole
day, feel free to join in as you can.  All of the day's events honor Menger.

Lecture: "Menger, Games, and Morals" delivered by
<http://homepage.univie.ac.at/Karl.Sigmund/> Karl Sigmund, University of
Vienna. A member of the Austrian Academy of Science, Professor Sigmund is an
internationally known mathematician and a pioneer of evolutionary game
dynamics. In recent years, he has been interested in the history of
mathematics, especially the Vienna Circle. Professor Sigmund has co-edited
