Student Mathematics Team Places 4th

Applied Mathematics Assistant Professor Michael Pelsmajer and nine undergraduate students attended the ISMAA 2005 meeting - the 2005 Annual Meeting of the Illinois Section of the Mathematical Association of America (ISMAA).  All the students participated in the Undergraduate Mathematics Contest portion of the meeting.  One team consisting of Applied Mathematics students Jon Beagley and Tony Parrillo and Electrical Engineering student Keith Campell placed fourth in the competition.

The meeting was held at Knox College in Galesburg, IL on April 8 and 9 and included a workshop on Discovery Based Learning, presentations from ISMAA members, a reception and contributed paper sessions specifically for undergraduate students.  The Mathematical Association of America has 29 regional sections and is the largest professional society that focus on undergraduate mathematics education.
